Bariatric/MIS Surgeon

The Department of Surgery at Temple University School of Medicine (TUSM), announces the search for anexperienced fellowship trained Bariatric Surgeon whose has interest in MIS/robotic bariatric surgery and general surgery to join our growing department. The Department has approximately 30 full-time clinical faculty in eight sections: Abdominal Organ Transplantation, Cardiothoracic Surgery (Aortic, Cardiac and Lung Transplantation), Colorectal Surgery, General Surgery (Bariatric, Breast, Laparoscopic), Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Surgical Oncology, Trauma/Surgical Critical Care and Vascular Surgery. The Department provides the highest quality, most compassionate care to its patients, utilizing state-of-the-art and minimally invasive technologies and techniques to achieve successful surgical outcomes.

The new BariatricSurgeon will have clinical expertise in open and laparoscopic gastric bypass, laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding and revisional bariatric procedures and have a strong belief in the multidisciplinary approach to weight loss. Applicants must possess an M.D. or M.D. /Ph.D. with active board certification in general surgery, in possession of or eligible for medical licensure in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and credentials that will qualify for a faculty appointment at the minimum level of Assistant Professor. In addition it is preferred that applicants be active participants in national organizations and committees such as those of the American College of Surgeons.

Manager, Centers of Excellence Program

As a result of significant growth in the past year, Tenet Healthcare has newly created the role of Manager, Centers of Excellence (COE) program. This is a role for a Nurse Manager who will project manage the initial application process and maintenance of Center of Excellence designations, for our hospitals, system wide. The Manager will oversee hospital applications for COE designations to ensure that all applications are completed correctly, that volume requirements are met, and that applications are submitted in a timely manner. Following designation, the Manager will track COE designation activity and report to appropriate leadership offices, and work with Managed Care to determine impact on volume (if any). The Manager will work to establish program consistency (i.e. standards of Clinical and Operational Excellence) among designated service lines (i.e. bariatric, stroke, etc) at various hospitals. Additionally, this position will partner with key participants to ensure that patient care services delivered within the hospital are at the highest levels of quality and safety.

This role will report directly to Tenet Healthcare’s system CNO, and will act as a bridge between Patient Care Services, Managed Care and Operations to assure that strategic initiatives are aggressively pursued and duplicative efforts/work are avoided.

  • Masters degree in Nursing or related field required (Health Administration, Business, Public Health, or management)
  • Academic degree in nursing required (Bachelors or Masters degree)
  • 5 Years minimum of demonstrated clinical leadership and management ability in a complex organization and/or corporate level position
  • Preferred to have some experience with managed care center of excellence activity
  • Highly effective interpersonal, communication and supervisory skills
  • Collaboration with department team members and all corporate departments essential
  • Ability to execute projects and outcomes on a timely basis
  • Occasional travel might be required (25% or less)

POSITION SUMMARY
