Position Overview:

Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct virtual nutritional assessments for patients preparing for bariatric surgery.

• Guide patients through post-operative stages, including diet progression, supplementation, and lifestyle modification.

Qualifications:

The Department of Surgery at Loyola University Medical Center, located in the western suburbs of Chicago, is recruiting for the position of Chief of Minimally Invasive Surgery, Bariatrics and Community General Surgery. The MIS program is incorporated with Loyola’s Digestive Health Program, which is a comprehensive, multidisciplinary program.

The ideal candidate is a leader in minimally invasive surgery with experience in advanced minimally invasive surgery and endoscopic procedures. Successful candidates will possess an M.D. or D.O., board certification in general surgery by the ABS, advanced training/fellowship in MIS and credentials that will support a faculty appointment at the rank of Associate Professor/Professor. An Illinois state license is required by the time of hire. Key Responsibilities:

Responsibilities:
Surgical Duties:
• First assist in bariatric procedures including laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy, gastric bypass, revisional bariatric surgery, and other advanced laparoscopic procedures.
• Support patient positioning, trocar placement, intraoperative suturing/stapling, and hemostasis
• Participate in preoperative and intraoperative time-outs and surgical safety protocols
Clinical Duties:
• Conduct comprehensive preoperative evaluations including history & physicals, risk stratification, and documentation according to ABMBS protocols
• Monitor and manage postoperative follow-up including wound care, medication management, lab monitoring, and nutritional compliance

Bariatric/GI Surgeon

UNIVERSITY OF ROCHESTER MEDICAL CENTER

The Division of Bariatric/GI Surgery of the Department of Surgery at the University of Rochester School
of Medicine and Dentistry located at Highland Hospital is seeking an ABS board certified, experienced,
academic general and bariatric surgeon to join the division at an Assistant/Associate Professor level.
Advanced training/fellowship in MIS/Bariatrics is preferred. We will also consider new graduates if the
candidate is an appropriate fit. The division currently consists of four faculty members with a scope of
practice spanning all aspects of Bariatric, GI, MIS, and general surgery. We have a busy, well-
established, comprehensive, multidisciplinary Bariatric Surgery program. The incoming surgeon will see
patients and perform surgery at both Highland Hospital and Strong Memorial Hospital.

The U of R is located in Rochester, New York and is surrounded by world class culture, affordable
housing and nationally ranked public schools. The City of Rochester is a mecca for the arts: home to a
philharmonic orchestra, wonderful museums including the Strong National Museum of Play,

Bariatric Surgery Navigator

Signature Healthcare, Brockton, MA

The Bariatric Surgery Navigator within the bariatric surgery program in the Bariatric Surgical Services, Weight and Wellness Center serves as the primary point of contact for patients and their families, and is responsible for guiding and supporting them with navigating the complexities of the bariatric process and addressing any questions or concerns that arise. May assist with patient flow through clinic. This role involves coordinating care, providing education, and ensuring a seamless experience for patients from initial consultation through post-operative follow-up.

This is a full-time 40 hour/ week in office position

>Communicates effectively with internal and external customers with respect of differences in cultures, values, beliefs and ages, utilizing interpreters when needed.
Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP) standards:
>Collaborates with members of the bariatric services team and other providers in all specialty areas to coordinate patient’s care plan, works with multidisciplinary team to maintain and implement up-to-date care plan and communicates with all members of the healthcare team on behalf of the patient
>Provides comprehensive education to patients about bariatric surgery options, procedures, and lifestyle changes required post-surgery.
>Assist patients in understanding the risks, benefits, and expectations of bariatric surgery.
>Address patient inquiries and concerns through one-on-one consultations, phone calls, and emails.

Provides Comprehensive Coordinated Care Which Adheres To MBSAQIP Protocols:
>Facilitates communication between patients and the multidisciplinary bariatric team, including surgeons, dietitians, psychologists, and other specialists.
>Schedules and coordinates pre-operative assessments, tests, and consultations.
>Coordinates patient care that is safe, effective, efficient and timely. Liaisons between visiting nurses, clinical staff and consult services to ensure comprehensive patient centered care. For more complex diagnosis, will consult with physicians or surgeons regarding treatment plans.
>Ensure that all required documentation and authorizations are obtained and processed.
>Guide patients through the pre-operative preparation process, including medical evaluations, psychological assessments, dietary modifications, lifestyle changes, and pre-surgery requirements, as outlined by MBSAQIP.
>Assist patients in understanding and completing insurance and financial paperwork.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience
LPN or RN license required; Certification as a Bariatric Nurse Navigator (CBN) or similar certification
