Surgery Bariatric Nurse Practitioner

Seeking an experienced (preferred) physician assistant/nurse practitioner to join an HCA bariatric surgery practice located on the campus of Parham Doctors’ Hospital in Richmond, Virginia.  This position may include limited inpatient care.

Qualified Candidates:

  • Primary role of the provider is to conduct clinic or outpatient office visits for the preoperative and postoperative care and long term management of bariatric patients.
  • Perform dietary counseling/bariatric educations visits in the preoperative/criteria process (this may include initial consultation for bariatric surgery)
  • Provide postoperative weight management/maintenance care of bariatric patients (this may include use of pharmacological therapy with anti-obesity medication prescribing and management)
  • Role may also include preoperative care of performing H&P’s and reviewing lab results
  • Prior experience in bariatric medicine, medical weight loss is preferred as well as the ability to have some level of independence in their patient care practice
  • Board certification required in their specialty
  • Virginia licensure or ability to obtain
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills to communicate clearly and concisely with all levels of nursing, physicians and administration

You will work under the direction and mentorship of the Program Director, Sergio Bardaro, MD, FACS, FASMBS, DABS-FPMBS.

Metabolic and Bariatric Surgeon

The Chicago Institute of Advanced Surgery is seeking a surgeon with metabolic and bariatric fellowship training to join its multi specialty surgical practice. The practice is located in the heart of Chicago and consists of general surgeons with various fellowship training in bariatric, foregut, colon and rectal surgery, HPB, and other specialties. Dr. Brian Gluck and Life Without Limits Team is seeking a skilled, fellowship trained Bariatric Surgeon to join the team. As a Bariatric Surgeon, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive care to patients with obesity-related health conditions. You will work closely with Dr. Brian Gluck, physician extenders and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality surgical interventions and post-operative care.

The metabolic and bariatric surgery program in Muskegon has performed more than 7000 MBS procedures since the program began in December 2002 and has been MBSAQIP accredited since 2006 and has maintained a volume 300-400 primary bariatric procedures annually, as a single surgeon practice, for the last 20 years.  Aside from primary bariatric procedures, the practice also performs revisional bariatric surgery, endoscopy and general surgery.  As an alternative to surgery, the Life Without Limits program also provides and promotes Non-surgical Medical Weight Management options.

1. Perform bariatric surgical procedures, including gastric bypass, gastric sleeve, and laparoscopic surgery.

The Bellevue Hospital Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Program has been MBSAQIP accredited since 2010 and currently performs approximately 3000 procedures annually. The existing group of surgeons also performs MIS cases for foregut disease (Nissen/Heller, etc.), hernias (including robotic TAPP/TAR, eTEP), benign colon disease and choledocholithiasis (lap common duct explorations). Bariatric Fellowship

The Legacy Bariatric Surgery Fellowship is a twelve-month program focusing on the field of Bariatric Surgery. This is primarily a clinical laparoscopic bariatric surgery fellowship. The bariatric surgeons are experienced in laparoscopic bariatric surgery and perform a large volume of a variety of procedures, including gastric bypass, lap-band revisions, sleeve gastrectomy, interventional endoscopy and other revisional procedures. The program performs some robotic assisted surgery. The program is involved in evaluating novel endoscopic devices. The program focuses on acquisition of advanced laparoscopic and robotic surgical skills and clinical research. Fellows will participate in ongoing research projects, and initiate their own projects. Legacy has institutional support for clinical research with existing research coordinators and other infrastructure. Legacy Good Samaritan Hospital is a Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence. There are opportunities for presentation at scientific meetings and publication. Fellows rotate with other advanced laparoscopic surgeons at Providence Portland Hospital (Kevin Reavis, Daniel Davila-Bradley, Missy DeSouza) whose practices focus on laparoscopic foregut and bariatric surgery. Fellows are given the option of attending several courses for laparoscopic fellows, and travel funding for presentations at meetings is provided.

Education:
Must be a graduate of a medical school accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education, the American Association of Colleges of Podiatric Medicine or the American Osteopathic Association, or a graduate of a medical school recognized by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates.

Must have completed an accredited residency-training program in a specialty directly related to the fellowship-training program.

Licensure:
Must hold a regular State Medical License or Dental License for the applicable state, or a temporary certification or registration, to practice medicine or dentistry in the applicable state in accordance with applicable statutes and regulations.

Clinical Dietitian – Bariatrics

Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital is a 176-bed community hospital with an accredited MBSAQIP Comprehensive Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery Center. We have two fellowship trained bariatric surgeons and are searching for a full-time dietitian to support our program. We perform a variety of surgical procedures including Sleeve Gastrectomy, Gastric Bypass, Single Anastomosis Duodeno-Ileostomy (SADI-S), Lap Band Management & Removals, Distal Gastric Bypass, and Conversion Operations. We provide medical weight loss services as well.

The applicant will be responsible for managing patient’s medical nutrition therapy in accordance with the medical staff approved clinical practice standards. The applicant will serve as a resource for nutrition education. If bachelor’s degree is in major other than Dietetics, must complete an Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) accredited Didactic Program in Dietetics. If not Reg Dietitian or RDN at hire, must obtain within 9 months. PACE specific incumbents for this position require a minimum of one year of experience working with the frail or elderly population. BLS required within 90 days of hire.
