Verification of Credentials
The CBN Certification Program provides official verification of certification status for credentialed nurses upon request. Verification may be obtained in one of the following ways:
- Public Verification
Provides limited information to confirm certification status and may be requested by any individual or organization. This includes the certificant’s name, certification type, current certification status, and good standing status (if applicable). Written authorization is not required. - Primary Source Verification
Sent directly from ASMBS to an authorized third party (e.g., an employer or credentialing organization). This type of verification requires the certificant’s signed authorization and may include additional details, such as certification number and certification dates. - Credentialed Provider Verification
Provided directly to the credentialed nurse and may include full certification details.
Verification Process
Verification is provided in written form via email and may be issued as an official document on ASMBS letterhead. Only information necessary to confirm certification status is disclosed. Examination scores, disciplinary information, and other confidential records are not released unless required by law.
Processing may take up to (5) business days.
Verification requests may not be processed within fifteen (15) calendar days of an initial award or renewal to allow for record updates.
For requests requiring authorization, please upload the completed and signed CBN Credential Verification Request Form within the verification request form.
