Speak Up for Access to Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery

Submit Your CMS Comment by August 31

CMS is accepting public comments on proposed CY 2027 policy changes that could directly affect payment, site-of-service decisions, and patient access to metabolic and bariatric surgery.

We need your voice. Please submit an individual comment by August 31, 2026. ASMBS has prepared two comment letter options to make the process easy:
Option 1: Long Form

Please follow these steps:

1. Select the letter that best reflects your perspective.
2. Personalize it with your name, credentials, institution, location, and relevant state or local experience.
3. Visit the CMS comment portal at https://www.regulations.gov/commenton/CMS-2026-2344-0002
4. Select “Submit a Comment” and follow the online instructions to paste or upload your letter.
5. Reference file code CMS-1850-P and submit your comment no later than August 31.

Comments submitted through Regulations.gov are publicly available, so please do not include confidential or personally sensitive information.

Individual comments from ASMBS members are critical to demonstrating how these proposed policies could affect patients, clinical decision-making, and access to safe, evidence-based care.
