Raza M Shariff, MD, FACS, FASMBS is an American Board certified general surgeon. He is the Director of the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery program at Concord Hospital in Laconia, New Hampshire and the Medical Director of the Weight Institute of New Hampshire (WINH.) Dr.Shariff helped establish the bariatric surgery program in Laconia after completing his fellowship in Minimally Invasive Bariatric and General Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. WINH is now a fully accredited ACS-MBSAQIP comprehensive center for bariatric surgery. In addition to bariatric surgery, Dr.Shariff has expertise in minimally invasive foregut surgery, including surgery for reflux/heartburn and complex hiatal hernias, as well as endoscopy and esophageal ph monitoring. He also performs advanced laparoscopic procedures such as colon resection, rectopexy, congenital diaphragmatic hernia repair and adrenalectomy. He serves as the Chairperson of the Department of Surgery at Concord Hospital - Laconia. He is closely involved with education of medical students in his role as Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of New England College of Medicine. He proctors the core general surgery rotation for third year medical students at the Lakes campus and is faculty mentor to students conducting clinical research in surgery.
