Dr. Jayaraj Salimath, F.A.C.O.S, FASMBS, Bariatric, Minimally Invasive and General Surgery . Dr. Jayaraj Salimath has been in Peoria since 2007, started at Mid Illini Surgical Associates in 2007 upon completion of a Fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic in Weston, Florida. Currently working with Springfield Clinic in Peoria. Perform Bariatric surgery at both Unity Point Methodist and OSF. A Board Certified General Surgeon and Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Surgery, Dr. Salimath also holds a degree in Nursing. He received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Michigan State University where he also completed his internship. His general surgery residency was completed at Ingham Regional Medical Center in Michigan. He is currently a Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria. Dr. Salimath specializes in minimally invasive General Surgery and bariatric weight loss surgery including sleeve gastrectomy, gastric bypass, revisional bariatric suregery and Lap-Band. As a general surgeon, he has a special interest in minimally invasive surgery to assist with Gastroesopahgeal reflux, Upper and Lower Endoscopy, pH monitoring, Esophageal Motility studies and Hiatal hernia repairs, Gastric cancer, Adrenalectomies. Dr. Salimath is on the Active Medical Staff at UnityPoint Health Methodist | Proctor, OSF St. Francis Medical Center, and Pekin Hospital. Currently the Medical Director of Bariatric services at Unity Point Methodist Hospital, Peoria, IL. Also served on Access to Care Committee at ASMBS, Board Memeber at Large for Illinois association of bariatric surgeons . Current Secretary of Illinois Association of Bariatric Surgeons.
