Assessment Based Certificates

Learn about Current Offerings

ASMBS offers Assessment-Based Certificates (ABC) designed to build expertise and recognition in specialized areas of practice. These programs provide structured instruction and training, with the goal of helping participants acquire specific knowledge, skills, and competencies.

Unlike certificates of attendance or participation, these programs include an assessment directly linked to the learning experience to evaluate mastery of the intended outcomes. Participants who successfully demonstrate competency receive a certificate recognizing their achievement. These structured training programs consist of multiple components:

  • Web-Based Learning Modules – Asynchronous online content available through the ASMBS Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Live Sessions – In-person educational sessions held at the ASMBS Annual or Weekend Meetings.
  • Examination – The course concludes with an exam.
  • Certificate of Training

Recognition of Certificate Holders
Individuals who successfully complete the program are awarded a Certificate of Training, recognizing their achievement and specialized knowledge. Please note: this certificate does not grant an acronym or post-nominal letters for use after one’s name.

Ongoing Requirements
Certificate holders are typically not required to complete additional activities to maintain their certificate. However, some programs may include periodic education, training, or assessments to support continued learning and competency.

Tiered Certificate Model
The ABC Certificate Program will adopt a tiered structure to enhance flexibility and learning opportunities. Level 1 certificates will be available year-round through the ASMBS Learning Management System (LMS). When corresponding live courses are offered at the ASMBS Annual or Weekend Meetings, participants may also pursue Level 2: Advanced or Live Mastery certificates, which are only awarded through in-person attendance.

The availability of the tiered certificates will depend on the live meeting program schedule and may vary from year to year.

Coming Soon to the ASMBS Learning Management System
ASMBS is currently adding these courses to the Learning Management System for year-round access. To be notified when they become available, please contact certificates@asmbs.org.
