Established private practice group performing the full complement of Bariatric and Advanced Laparoscopic and Robotic General surgical procedures and one of the busiest bariatric surgery practices in the country completing 1,400+ Bariatric procedures per year. >Address patient inquiries and concerns through one-on-one consultations, phone calls, and emails.

Provides Comprehensive Coordinated Care Which Adheres To MBSAQIP Protocols:
>Facilitates communication between patients and the multidisciplinary bariatric team, including surgeons, dietitians, psychologists, and other specialists.
>Schedules and coordinates pre-operative assessments, tests, and consultations.
>Coordinates patient care that is safe, effective, efficient and timely. Liaisons between visiting nurses, clinical staff and consult services to ensure comprehensive patient centered care. For more complex diagnosis, will consult with physicians or surgeons regarding treatment plans.
>Ensure that all required documentation and authorizations are obtained and processed.
>Guide patients through the pre-operative preparation process, including medical evaluations, psychological assessments, dietary modifications, lifestyle changes, and pre-surgery requirements, as outlined by MBSAQIP.
>Assist patients in understanding and completing insurance and financial paperwork.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience
LPN or RN license required; Certification as a Bariatric Nurse Navigator (CBN) or similar certification

Surgical practice will have a primary focus on the treatment of general surgery diseases through minimally invasive techniques. Candidates must have experience with open, laparoscopic, and robotic techniques. Endoscopic experience is preferred. Clinical expertise in other areas such as endocrine, bariatrics, or breast surgery can be accommodated.
Candidates should have established research related to the disease processes found in general surgery.
Candidates will be directly involved with the AWR/hernia and Bariatric/MIS fellowships and will be responsible for both didactic and hands on training of the general surgery residents and medical students.

Essential Functions
-Provides advanced clinical dietitian responsibilities which may include specialty or advanced patient population, participation in clinical care forums to serve as resource on nutrition related concerns, mentors new staff, and evaluation of new products
-Assist leadership team in program planning and proposals to improve processes or improve efficiency; plans, conducts, supervises, and evaluates the education experiences of dietetic interns and students
-Based on multiple criterion including assessment of nutritional needs, physician’s orders, clinical data, interdisciplinary health care plans, and standards of quality nutritional care that appropriately meet age, psychosocial and physical needs of patients, the Dietitian develops and implements nutrition plan of care for patients
-Documentation of all nutrition related information including assessment, nutrition therapy recommendations and care plan, follow up data and changes, diet consultation results, discharge planning, daily clinical activities, and other related orders and pertinent information
-Counsel, educate, and develop resources and materials for the education of patients on families on prescribed therapeutic diets
-Partner with food service staff to ensure meals, supplements, and nutrition support is provided; review patients’ menu selections to monitor compliance with modified diets
-Performs other duties as assigned

  • Develop educational materials and update the practice’s nutrition booklet to be featured on our website.

  • Contribute to social media and digital content creation, helping to educate and inspire patients.
  • Maintain an updated supplement list and oversee our online store, including inventory management and product development.

Administrative & Professional Development

  • Document patient interactions and plans in the Practice EMR system.
  • Act as a liaison between patients, physicians, and hospital staff to ensure seamless communication.

Dietitian needed to join MBSAQIP Accredited Bariatric Program. Dietitian will be part of an office based bariatric practice. Virginia Mason Center for Weight Management – Seattle/North End

Virginia Mason is seeking a Weight Management/Obesity Medicine Physician to join our team. This provider will work primarily at one of our North End regional medical centers with one day per week on our main campus in Seattle. There is some allowance for remote work as well. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in obesity and metabolic health management, certification through the American Board of Obesity Medicine or completion of an obesity medicine fellowship, and the ability to collaborate and program build with our bariatric surgeons.

Responsibilities
Diagnosis and multimodal treatment of patients with obesity and related metabolic disorders. This includes behavioral counseling/lifestyle coaching, pharmacotherapy, as well as care coordination with dieticians, bariatric surgeons, physical therapists, mental health providers, etc. Help manage patients with post-bariatric surgery metabolic issues such as weight regain, hypoglycemia, vitamin deficiencies, etc.
Provide full-time outpatient clinical care.
Participate in Center for Weight Management program development activities (e.g. MBSAQIP meetings, care conferences, growth/strategy meetings, etc).
Practice location will be primarily in the North End and one day in Downtown Seattle.
Qualifications
At least 2 years of outpatient clinical experience or pending graduation from an obesity medicine fellowship. BE/BC in internal medicine, primary care, family medicine, or endocrinology.
Certification by American Board of Obesity Medicine (completed or pending)
Active Washington State medical license in good standing prior to start date.
Active DEA certification prior to start date.
Active BLS Certification.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Experience and/or interest in health services research is preferred but not required.
Proficiency with or ability to become proficient with the Cerner EMR.
