This role is working with patients in an outpatient setting. This role is a full-time, Monday- Friday position. The ideal candidate will have training in obesity, bariatric medicine, weight loss management, and clinical nutrition.

Samaritan Hospital Bariatric & Metabolic Care is an extremely busy outpatient practice that offers weight loss management including: weight loss medication initiation and management, managing vitamin levels for post-op Bariatric Surgery, and diet and exercise planning. Clinical Program Specialist-Bariatric

Provides oversight, consultation, research, management, and education in a specific clinical area.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manages accreditation criteria required by governing agencies by maintaining all policies and procedures for assigned services to ensure program compliance, including but no limited to joint commission, federal and state regulations, Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP), and regulatory standards.

  • Collects and performs statistical analysis, interpretation, and dissemination of data related to program for the Process Improvement Committee.
  • Identifies opportunities for clinical quality improvement and special projects by integrating evidence based practice into clinic improvements working with members of the Metabolic and Bariatric Committee.
  • Annually reviews/updates bariatric clinical pathways, standardized orders, and facility order sets with the Medical Director.
  • Participates on various committees and presents information as directed.
  • Provides education oversight for center and hospital staff, students, other hospitals, and community organizations as requested.
  • Effectively teaches methods for multi-level individuals and/or groups for delivering effective personalized, patient-centered outcomes, and professional development of colleagues (i.e. lectures; power point presentations; e-learning, etc).
  • Assists with marketing needs for the program.
  • Successfully completes the MBSCR Online Training Program and annual recertification.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Nursing required upon hire
  • A minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience required
  • RN – Licensed as a Registered Nurse. Eligible to practice nursing in the State of Kentucky required upon hire AND
  • CBN – Certified Bariatric Nurse certification through American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) required within 48 months of employment in this position

Works closely with MBS medical director to anticipate and identify program needs and implement solutions to problems. Integrates evidence-based practice into programmatic improvements.
  • Has complete knowledge of and supports quality improvement goals that influence patient outcomes and their association with coordination of care.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare related field preferred.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Provides nutrition education to patients who are post op Bariatric Surgery, macro and micronutrients, prophylactic and replacement vitamin therapy, all according to literature-based center and program parameters. Job Summary

Provides administrative oversight of the medical office through administration of finances, personnel, educational programs, public relations and physical resources. Interviews, hires, and assigns work to and evaluates work performance of employees supervised. Responsible for performing job duties in accordance with mission, vision and values of Tampa General Hospital. Required Skills

Bachelors’ degree required. Master’s degree in healthcare administration, business administration or health administration preferred. Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in a physician office within the specialty area managed. Knowledge of Specialty specific billing, coding, inpatient and outpatient work. Progressive supervisory experience including financial analysis required. Proficient in using computer applications for analyzing data, communicating, and producing reports. Knowledge of Bariatric Programs and physician office management preferred.
