Performs post-operative procedures to include entering standard post-operative orders into patient medical records; assists physicians with evaluation and management of patient’s status during recovery; reviews vital signs, laboratory and diagnostic studies; assists with management of patients. Facilitates patient discharge; dictates discharge and transfer summaries in a timely manner. Other Duties

The Department of Minimally Invasive Surgery at Baylor Scott & White Health is seeking a clinical research fellow to start July 1, 2018 for a 12 month period. The ideal candidate should have completed at least a year of dedicated research curriculum in surgery and have two or more peer-reviewed publications. The applicant should have a strong clinical interest in diseases of the foregut, as research encompasses disease management either endoscopically, laparoscopically, robotically, or a hybrid. The department works closely with the Department of Bariatric Surgery as well as system-wide including over 40 hospitals in the North Texas area, providing a unique work experience at the hospital and system level of one of the largest healthcare systems in the United States. The fellow will be working with several attending surgeons, a clinical research coordinator, several research assistants, clinical fellows, medical students, and surgery residents. The fellow will conduct his/her own research as well as assist in the department’s ongoing research and data collection. The fellow will also be expected to organize and gain approval for research within the division by completing IRB protocols, manage and maintain data registries, participate in research meetings, write and submit manuscripts, and present and attend local and national society meetings. UTHealth Center for Obesity Medicine and Metabolic Performance invites applications for our comprehensive Clinical Fellowship in Obesity Medicine. This one-year fellowship, the fifth in the nation, is designed for current residents or recent graduates of internal medicine, family medicine, or endocrinology training programs who wish to obtain rigorous, comprehensive subspecialty training in the area of Obesity Medicine. We are currently recruiting fellows seeking to begin the fellowship program on August 1, 2019. The deadline is October 1, 2018 for 2019 applicants.
This fellowship has been designed to provide trainees with expertise and clinical experience in the emerging field of Obesity Medicine, with a primary focus on the evaluation and management of patients with obesity. Fellows will learn how to treat obesity through intensive lifestyle intervention, nutritional, behavioral, pharmacological and surgical means, as well as how to address the comorbidities of this disorder most effectively. Trainees who complete this fellowship program will be prepared to pursue clinical and/or academic careers focused in obesity medicine and to become leaders in this emerging discipline.
Fellowship training in Obesity Medicine will occur over 1 year. Trainees will spend the majority of time in the adult clinical environment training obesity and its comorbidities. Didactic education includes the physiology and pathophysiology of body weight regulation and fundamental knowledge of current treatment and research in the field of Obesity medicine. On completion of fellowship, a fellow will be able to assess a patient with obesity or other metabolic disorders and to determine/facilitate an appropriate treatment plan. Trainees will understand and utilize standard and innovative approaches to the treatment of obesity, including body composition and metabolic measurement, novel combination therapies, surgical and medical integration of care, and outcomes related research and/or new and emerging treatment trials. They will be able to complete a full evaluation for patients with indications for obesity treatment both medically, surgically, and the med/surg combination and provide comprehensive care that leads to disease improvement.
Fellows will also develop the skills to be a competent educators in Obesity Medicine for medical students, residents, and endocrinology fellows rotating in the center. Outcomes and standard of care research can be completed under the guidance of a member of the program faculty and collaborating departments.
This fellowship is available to physicians who will have completed an accredited residency program in internal medicine, family medicine, or endocrinology. Other backgrounds considered on a case by case basis. Applicants must have completed a United States or Canadian residency program.

The BC is responsible for clinical aspects of patient care throughout the entire patient experience, patient and staff education and works closely with the Bariatric Medical Director, administrative, medical, nursing and interdisciplinary staff to implement program goals, maintain patient safety and maximize patient outcomes throughout the care continuum in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
In the office setting the BC is responsible for the supervision of the patient and their clinical documentation from initial patient contact, pre-operative supervision, surgery and post-operative discharge. The BC will process and coordinate data collection, performance improvement and policies as needed for both the hospital and any professional organizations required to maintain/attain accreditation. The BC will handle inter and intra office communication, maintain the bariatric program budget, organize and facilitate protocols and processes within the office with resolution of all issues regarding patient management and the coordination of services. The BC will facilitate and participate in educational seminars, support groups, patient activities, program marketing and outreach events in multiple venues throughout the hospital and within the community.

Western Bariatric, AMC is currently seeking a fellowship trained or experienced Bariatric Surgeon/General Surgeon to practice in San Bernardino and Riverside, California. The area has a more affordable cost of living, but is within 1 hour of most all of the highlights of Southern California.
• Bariatric surgery practice with a large volume of primary and revision bariatric surgeries, and general surgery as well. The practice is currently 85% bariatric surgery and 15% general, with ongoing growth in both areas. The ideal candidate will have an interest in both specialties, including endoscopy.
• Group is well established, 15 years in the service area, and has 3 fellowship trained Bariatric Surgeons supported by 2 Physician Assistants, managers, and the necessary ancillary staff.
