    RSFPP Bariatric and Metabolic Services Program was established in 2009, was accredited first as a Center of Excellence through the Surgical Review Committee (SRC) in 2011 and has been reaccredited as a Comprehensive Center under MBSAQIP on two successive occasions, last in 2018. Our bariatric surgical program has a strong focus on pre-surgery education and post-operative success. Recently, our program has worked alongside the ASMBS and our anesthesia team to develop an Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) program, and the improvements in length of stay and our decrease in opioid utilization within our program after surgery have been presented at numerous national conferences.

The Bariatric Surgery Program is a high-volume program with a case load includes roux en y gastric bypass, vertical sleeve gastrectomy, and revisional cases. The ideal candidate will be comfortable doing these cases, and also be skilled in upper endoscopy and paraesophageal hernia repair and other related foregut work. Experience in robotic surgery is a plus.
Our program offers the full complement of integrated care. Furthermore, our program has a strong partnership with the Kaiser Permanente Washington Health Research Institute, an internationally recognized academic research organization that conducts non-proprietary research, primarily funded through federal grants and contracts that total nearly $50 million annually. The Research Institute has a long-standing history of bariatric surgical outcomes research that has resulted in over 45 published manuscripts and helped to shape current bariatric clinical practice guidelines and health care policy. The Research Institute partners closely with WPMG bariatric surgeons to lead clinical trials, develop novel interventions, conduct rigorous analyses of electronic health records databases, and to improve shared decision making around bariatric surgery. It is expected that the surgeon in this position would have opportunities to advise the Research Institute faculty on the development of new research projects and to collaborate on those projects and published manuscripts that result from them. Staff Psychologist for the MGH Weight Center Full-Time Preferred

We are seeking a Massachusetts-licensed (or license-eligible) clinical psychologist with a specialization in obesity and related disorders and health psychology for a staff position at the MGH Weight Center. Our patient population is seen on an outpatient basis, and consists of adults and children/adolescents seeking assessment, consultation, and treatment for obesity and related medical and psychosocial comorbidities. The position is a full-time clinical position. Clinical responsibilities will include conducting initial assessments, treatment planning, delivering time-limited individual and group interventions, leading informational orientations for prospective Weight Center patients. Clinical work at the MGH Weight Center involves close collaboration with other members of the Weight Center’s multidisciplinary team (obesity medicine physicians, surgeons, dietitians, nurse practitioner, other clinical investigators). The population is largely an adult population, but expertise/experience with children and/or adolescence is highly desirable. This role will include a dual appointment to both the Massachusetts General Hospital (the MGH) and within Psychiatry Associates of the Massachusetts General Physicians Organization, Inc. (the MGPO).

Applicants should have a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) from an APA-accredited program and have completed an APA-accredited predoctoral internship, and be licensed, license-eligible, or imminently license-eligible in the state of Massachusetts.
