Role Overview
As our Outpatient Clinical Dietitian, you will guide patients through the full spectrum of bariatric care. You’ll work hand-in-hand with medical social workers to ensure patients have the resources, education & support they need, always advocating for their success.

Responsibilities include
Assessing & monitoring nutritional health of outpatient bariatric patients
Developing & implementing individualized nutrition plans
Providing one-on-one & group nutrition counseling
Collaborating closely with physicians & care teams to ensure seamless patient care
Leading patient support groups & creating educational content for social media
Mentoring dietetic interns & supporting professional growth within the team

Minimum Qualifications

The Department of Surgery at Loyola University Medical Center, located in the western suburbs of Chicago, is recruiting for the position of Chief of Minimally Invasive Surgery, Bariatrics and Community General Surgery. The MIS program is incorporated with Loyola’s Digestive Health Program, which is a comprehensive, multidisciplinary program.

The ideal candidate is a leader in minimally invasive surgery with experience in advanced minimally invasive surgery and endoscopic procedures. Successful candidates will possess an M.D. or D.O., board certification in general surgery by the ABS, advanced training/fellowship in MIS and credentials that will support a faculty appointment at the rank of Associate Professor/Professor. An Illinois state license is required by the time of hire. It is strongly preferred that candidates possess prior leadership and program development experience with demonstrated fiscal and administrative responsibility, as well as a strong commitment to resident and medical student education. Position Overview:
We are seeking a qualified and compassionate Psychologist to join our bariatric surgery program. The ideal candidate will assess, evaluate, and diagnose behavioral, emotional, cognitive, and mental health conditions in patients preparing for surgical weight loss. Using evidence-based methods, the Psychologist will provide psychological evaluations, offer counseling and therapy when appropriate, and determine psychological readiness for bariatric surgery. The role also supports patients in adopting sustainable behavioral and lifestyle changes to enhance physical, emotional, and interpersonal well-being.

Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct comprehensive psychological evaluations for bariatric surgery candidates, including clinical interviews, psychological testing, and medical and psychosocial history reviews
• Determine psychological appropriateness for bariatric surgery.
• Possess working knowledge of bariatric surgery procedures, including prerequisites, complications, and post-operative care
• Diagnose psychological, emotional, or behavioral disorders using a combination of interviews, testing, and reference materials
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that may include counseling or therapy to promote personal and lifestyle adjustment
• Counsel patients on issues such as stress, coping strategies, substance use, and family dynamics
• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of treatment interventions and revise care plans as necessary

Qualifications:
• Doctoral degree (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) in Psychology from an accredited institution

• Previous experience with bariatric patients or in behavioral medicine is desirable, but not mandatory
