An Interview With The Chair
What about this committee’s mission is the most important to you?
“Enhancing patient support and education is a critical part of long-term success for the Bariatric population. It takes a team of healthcare professionals to treat patients with obesity. Patients do not just need medical interventions, they need guidance, encouragement, and tools to assist them with living a healthy lifestyle after weight loss surgery. This is why a multidisciplinary committee is essential to every bariatric program.“
How has being part of this committee benefitted you professionally or even personally?
“Being a part of the committee has benefited me both professionally and personally. Working alongside experts from different disciplines has strengthened by ability to lead discussions and advocate for best practices in patient education. I have had the ability to network with professionals who share the same commitment to create opportunities for growth and mentorship. I encourage anyone who is enthusiastic about patient education, long-term success, and collaborative care to consider joining a committee.“
What of this committee’s accomplishments are you most proud of?
“One of the most impactful initiatives developed by our committee is the mentorship program. This program was designed to foster growth, support, and knowledge-sharing among healthcare professionals. I have experienced this firsthand how the program can assist healthcare professionals new to Bariatrics.”
Final Thoughts on the Insurance Committee?
“The Integrated Health Multidisciplinary Care Committee is a well-structured committee that is composed of a team of dedicated and passionate health care professionals from various disciplines to enhance and improve long-term success for the bariatric patients.“
