The Corporate Council was organized to develop and enhance the joint strategies and efforts of bariatric surgeons, healthcare, and industry professionals in a proactive approach to addressing the challenges of obesity.

An Interview With The Chair

What about this committee’s mission is the most important to you? 

“The most important part of our mission to me is fostering collaboration between clinical leaders and industry innovators to address the evolving needs of patients, surgeons, and the broader metabolic health community. When we work together (openly and strategically) we can accelerate meaningful change.“

How has being part of this committee benefitted you professionally or even personally?

“Serving on this committee has expanded my professional network and deepened my understanding of how diverse stakeholders (i.e. clinicians, companies, and advocacy leaders) can align to move the field forward. Personally, it’s given me a sense of purpose, knowing we’re not just promoting technologies, but actively shaping the future of obesity care.“

What of this committee’s accomplishments are you most proud of? 

“I’m especially proud of the launch of our Industry Insights webinar series, which was created to elevate the voice of our Corporate Council members and foster true partnership between industry and the ASMBS. By offering timely, educational content from our corporate partners to ASMBS members, this initiative exemplifies our commitment to collaboration, transparency, and shared learning… All in service of advancing the field of metabolic and bariatric surgery.”
