1998-99 ASMBS President
Most Important Event
Assigning a governor representing the American College of Surgeons.
We continued the struggle to obtain the respect and recognition by medical school curricula, appointments to chairs of departments, prestigious general surgical societies, credentialing bodies, government regulators, private insurance, industry payers, the media, and the public in general. Operative procedures and concepts of mechanisms of action from bariatric surgery to metabolic surgery evolved. We established the SRC as a unifying credentialing body.We maintained a healthy blend of academic and private practice surgeons.
Sincerely,
Henry Buchwald, MD, PhD
