Zaher Nuwayhid, FACS DABOM FASMBS

Dr. Nuwayhid is a bariatric surgeon with a board certification in general surgery with Focused Practice Designation in Metabolic Bariatric Surgery. He received his medical school degree from The University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, where he graduated at top of his class. Dr. Nuwayhid completed his residency in general surgery at The University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital Program in 2011. He completed bariatric training program at The Laparoscopic Institute of South Florida in 2012. Dr. Nuwayhid subsequently joined a private practice which enabled him to pursue his great interest in bariatric surgery. Today he performed thousands of weight loss surgery procedures with excellent results, including Robotic and Laparoscopic Gastric Bypass, Sleeve Gastrectomy and Revisional surgeries. While excelling in his field, Dr. Nuwayhid also becomes certified in Bariatric Endoscopy doing intragastric balloon insertion and Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty. Dr. Nuwayhid has been involved in starting several bariatric/weight loss surgery programs. He joined Florida International University-FIU Health Faculty Group Practice from 2015-2017, in addition of bieng assisstant professor of surgery at the school of medicine, Dr Nuwayhid participated to build a strong and comprehensive Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Program at FIU. In 2017 Dr. Nuwayhid moved to Myrtle beach and helped rejuvenate Conway Medical Center (CMC) weight loss program and directed the process to get CMC weight loss a MBSAQIP accredited center. Currently Dr Nuwayhid is the medical director of CMC weight loss program. In 2021 Dr Nuwayhid became a Diplomate of The American Board of Obesity Medicine, DABOM. Dr. Nuwayhid has published multiple scientific articles in the field of general surgery. Dr Nuwayhid is the founder and president of Nuwaynutrition .com a platform, that provide custom made vitamins and meals to weight loss patients. He received the Outstanding Senior Resident of the Year Award in 2010, from The University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital. In 2017 he was chosen the Physician of the Month at Palmetto hospital. Dr. Nuwayhid has also been a member of the medical honor society Alpha Omega Alpha since 2006.
