About the Provider
An ASMBS IH Member since 1996, Walter established the first national advocacy practice of its kind - devoted to helping patients and surgery programs appeal insurance payer denials of bariatric surgery. He is a successful bariatric patient who underwent an open RNY gastric bypass in 1994 after winning his first bariatric appeal against his own insurer. He is a member of both the Insurance and Access To Care Committees and frequently has been faculty for various ASMBS courses. In 2003 he received the Circle Of Excellence Award presented by the Integrated Health members in recognition of his service to patients and to Society membership.
