Stephen Haggerty, MD

Dr. Haggerty is Senior Surgical Attending, NorthShore University HealthSystem in Evanston, Illinois and a Clinical Associate Professor of Surgery, University of Chicago, Pritzker School of Medicine. He received his medical degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia and completed general surgery residency at Rush Presbyterian-St. Lukes Medical Center in Chicago in 1998. He is currently in a busy academic group practice involving clinical research and resident and student education. In addition, he is an active member of several surgical societies including the American College of Surgeons, Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, and American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgeon. In addition he is on the membership committee of the Chicago Surgical Society. 

Dr. Haggerty specializes in minimally invasive (DaVinci Robotic & Laparoscopic) surgery and has been performing weight loss operations for over fifteen years, including Lap banding, laparoscopic gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy and the single anastomosis duodenal switch. He also does revisional procedures. He is currently an At-large board member of the Illinois Association for Bariatric Surgery. In addition, he is Co-Chair of the SAGES Guidelines Committee and was an author on the Guideline for Clinical Application of Laparoscopic Bariatric Surgery.
