Dr. Shaun Daly is an American Board of Surgery (ABS) certified General Surgeon who has additional fellowship training in advanced minimally invasive surgery. Dr. Daly specialized in gastroesophageal reflux disease, and diseases of the upper digestive tract including hernias of the diaphragm, hiatal hernias, achalasia and management of recurrent disease or complications for previous foregut operations. Dr. Daly is certified by the American Society and Metabolic and Bariatric Surgeons (ASMBS) for surgical treatment of metabolic disease, or bariatric surgery. Dr. Daly is also a founders member of the American Foregut Society (AFS) and an active member of the American Medical Association (AMA), American College of Surgeons (ACS), and Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES).

Dr. Daly provides minimally invasive surgical approaches to gastric cancer and esophageal cancer and was mentored by one of the pioneers of minimally invasive laparoscopic and thorascopic esophagectomy operations (MIE). Dr. Daly has additional certification in the use of magnetic sphincter augmentation (LINX device) for the management of gastroesophageal reflux disease and well as certification to perform Transoral Incisionless Fundoplication (TIF). In addition, Dr. Daly manages diseases of the gallbladder, small bowel, appendix and benign colon diseases. Dr. Daly is trained in the use of upper endoscopy, diagnostic and therapeutic applications. Dr. Daly treats all forms of abdominal wall hernias from minimally invasive techniques to open and minimally invasive component separations. Dr. Daly is currently undergoing his training to become certified in the use of the DeVinci Robotic System.

Dr. Daly earned his Medical Degree from Rush University Medical School in Chicago. He completed his general surgery residency training at Rush University Medical Center and the John H. Stroger, Jr Hospital of Cook County. His training including two years of transitional bench research in the identification and clinical applications of serum biomarkers in Lung cancer. He completed a Fellowship in Advanced Minimally Invasive Bariatric and Gastrointestinal Surgery at the University of California Irvine Medical Center. He holds a duel appointment at the University of California Irvine and where he is an assistant professor of surgery and with the Mission Surgical Group in the Inland Empire.

Dr. Daly has authored more than 30 peer-reviewed manuscripts, wrote several book chapters and has made numerous presentations at national conferences. Several operative videos have been showcased at surgical meetings which reflects the complexity of patients he treats. He currently sits on numerous national surgical committees including a joint committee currently developing the standards for management of gastroesophageal disease and management of metabolic diseases. He holds academic appointments at the University of California where he has developed a special interest in patient quality measures.
