Dr. Salman Al Sabah MBBS, MBA, FRCSC, FACS graduated from Kuwait Medical School. He completed his residency in General Surgery and Master of Management and Health Leadership degree at McGill University, Canada. He also completed his Fellowship in Minimal Invasive and Bariatric Surgery at McGill University.rnrnHe has contributed several international presentations as a speaker, moderator and publications to the field of Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery. He possesses an inquisitive and innovative approach to problems and was part of the team that started the First Single Port Surgery and the Novel Simulator for Laparoscopic Inguinal Hernia Repair at McGill University. He has won many accolades and awards in the field including, "Best Resident Teacher", u201cBest Poster Awardu201d at the Canadian Association of General Surgery and u201cBest Research On Diabetes And Bariatric Surgeryu201d from Kuwait University. He holds the honorable distinction of being ranked 1st across Canada, in the Canadian Association of General Surgery Exam.rnrnAt present he is the Director of Surgical Research and Academic Program in the Department of Surgery, and a Consultant Surgeon at Al Amiri hospital, Kuwait. His principle clinical foci are Metabolic/Bariatric Surgery, Minimally Invasive Surgery, Advanced Endoscopy and research. In addition to his own interest in research, he is currently a mentor to current Residents, Medical Students and Masters Students in Kuwait and sponsors a u201cBest research prizeu201d to foster and promote interest in research, in the State of Kuwait. He is a recipient of the u201cMedical Student Association Awardu201d for Supporting and Inspiring Students to Conduct Medical Research in Kuwait (2012-2013). In 2011, he established the u201cAl-Amiri Hospital Research Unit and Database Registryu201d to promote research with residents and medical students to improve the standard and quality of health care in Kuwait (more than 1500 patients). Through this unit alone, he has 3 publications with them in the past year in internationally reputed medical journals as well as many presentations in international meetings.rnrnDr. Al-Sabah is also the Director of the First and Second Kuwait Bariatric u0026 Metabolic Surgery Conference and the First Gulf Obesity and Metabolic Surgery Society Meeting. He is a member of many international and national surgical and medical societies including Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES), American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) and International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders (IFSO), American College of Surgeons (ACS), Endoscopic u0026 Laparoscopic Surgeons of Asia (ELSA), Gulf Obesity and Metabolic Surgery Society, Kuwait Obesity Surgery Association and Kuwait Medical Association.rnrnIn addition to being a member, Dr. Al-Sabah represents Kuwait internationally and is a Board Member to the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders: Asia Pacific Chapter and Endoscopic u0026 Laparoscopic Surgeons of Asia. He is a Fellow of the Canadian Royal College of Surgeons and the American College of Surgeons. He is the founder of the Gulf Obesity and Metabolic Surgery Society in the Gulf and the Kuwait Obesity Surgery Association in Kuwait.
