About the Provider

Dr. Lehmann is a Bariatric Surgeon at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. He is a Clinical Associate Professor of Surgery in the Division of Gastrointestinal, Minimally-Invasive, and Bariatric Surgery at the University of Iowa. Dr. Lehmann attended medical school at the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine at A.T. Still University and completed General Surgery Residency at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, WA. He then went on to complete a fellowship in Bariatric Surgery at St. Alexius Hospital in St. Louis, MO. He has been on the faculty at the University of Iowa since January 2019. Dr. Lehmann is a Diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine and a Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery with Focused Practice Designation in Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. Dr. Lehmann specializes in foregut and advanced minimally invasive laparoscopic and robotic surgery, including complex bariatric and metabolic surgery, anti-reflux (GERD) surgery and hiatal hernia repair, inguinal hernia surgery and complex abdominal wall surgery, and other advanced minimally invasive abdominal techniques. His areas of interest include metabolism and obesity, and he served as the Chair of the Public Education Committee for the ASMBS from 2021-2023.
