Dr. Rey J. Romero was born and raised in Veracruz, Mexico. He graduated from the National Autonomous University of Mexico and went on to continue his surgical training at Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education. Dr. Rey performed a proctorship in Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery at Texas Endosurgery Institute in San Antonio Texas and a fellowhipo in Bariatrica and Metabolic Surgery at Baptist Health South Florida. Dr. Rey is a board certified general surgeon with interest in laparoscopic surgery, bariatric and metabolic surgery. He has been involved in the care of bariatric patients since 2012. Dr. Rey is member of the Research National System in Mexico and chief of the Baritric and Metabolic Surgical Center Obesity Helath in Veracruz, Mexico. His leadership has lead to research in the area of surgery for diabetes, specially in patients with low body mass index. Dr. Romero has published several scientific articles and is a member of multiple professional societies including the American Society of Bariatric Surgery.
