Nandita Rao, MD FACS DABOM FASMBS

Dr. Rao MD, FACS, DABOM attended East Carolina University Brody School of Medicine for her medical degree, and then moved to East Tennessee State University for general surgery residency. She was inaugurated into Alpha Omega Alpha prior to graduation, which is considered the highest honor awarded in medical training based upon compassion, servant leadership, and academic achievement. Following residency, Dr. Rao completed a 1-year fellowship program in metabolic and bariatric surgery at the University of Missouri. She has achieved American board certifications in both general surgery as well as obesity medicine. Dr. Rao joined a private practice after training, and now works as a general and bariatric surgeon for the Mohawk Valley Health System in New York. She is also serves as core faculty for the MVHS general surgery residency program.
