Dr. Nancy Marquez is a board certified general surgeon who grew up in El Paso, Texas speaking Spanish as the oldest in a family of five children. She graduated with highest honors in psychology and chemistry from UT at El Paso, received her medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston and then completed her surgical training at Baylor Univeristy Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. She left Texas for three years to serve as an assistant professor in surgery at Louisiana University Medical Center in New Orleans before returning to raise her son and daughter in Austin, Texas. Dr. Marquez has performed minimally invasive bariatric procedures since 2002 and fully robotic bariatric procedures since 2012 with her practice including all spectrum of cases from sleeve gastrectomies, gastric bypasses, SADI-S as well as complex revisional procedures. She has worked diligently to advance and standardize the field of robotic bariatric surgery and serves as a proctor for aspiring robotic surgeons, conducts classroom lectures as well as hands- on laboratory sessions through Intuitive Surgical for new and experienced surgeons across the country using the DaVinci robot in addition to welcoming guest surgeons to the OR for case observations. Her practice welcomes new as well as transfer patients as they continue their weight loss journeys.
