He is passionate about surgical education, including resident skills training and student teaching.

His research interests include investigating the weight loss, health improvement, and differences in outcomes among a variety of bariatric surgical procedures, the long-term durability and side effects of anti-reflux surgery, and understanding how to make surgery safer and more effective using state and national quality collaborative data.

In addition to core general surgery, Dr. Obeid’s clinical interests include advanced laparoscopy and minimally-invasive surgery, bariatric surgery, diseases of the foregut (reflux disease, paraesophageal/hiatal hernias, esophageal dysmotility), gallbladder disease, hernias, and upper endoscopy.
