About the Provider

Dr. Myungwon Chang was raised in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Growing up, she enjoyed figure skating and watching University of Michigan football games. She received her bachelor of science and masters of public health from the University of Michigan. She holds a medical degree from Wayne State University. Subsequently, she completed general surgery training at St Joseph Mercy Health Hospital in Michigan and then went on to complete a fellowship in Bariatric and Minimally Invasive Surgery at Indiana University. Her clinical focus is the disease of obesity. She understands that obesity requires comprehensive treatment. Therefore, she has dual board certifications in both the surgical and medical treatment of obesity (Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery, Focused Practice in Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery and Diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine). She performs minimally invasive bariatric surgery using both laparoscopic and robotic techniques (Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy, duodenal switch, single anastomosis duodeno-ileal bypass, and revision bariatric surgery). She also does endoscopy. She is the immediate past President of the Indiana chapter of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.
