Magdy Giurgius graduated from medical school in Alexandria,Egypt 1995, completed general surgery residency at University of Alexandria, obtained a master degree in Science in early detection of breast cancer 2000, then started PhD in Breast cancer and moved to Kuwait to practice as a general surgeon between 2001 and 2006.Thereafter, moved to the United States where he completed his General Surgery Residency at University of Kentucky and a Fellowship in Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery at the University of Missouri. He is certified by the American Board of Surgery,Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and DABOM.Has special interest in endoluminal bariatric therapy and wound care. Practiced General & Bariatric surgery at Ozarks Health care, West Plains, MO,NEA Baptist hospital in Jonesboro,Arkansas,joined Western Missouri Medical center in Warrensburg,Missouri since April 2025 till present.Served on numerous leadership boards and committees including Past President of MO chapter of ASMBS,past member of the Executive Council of the Missouri chapter of American college of surgeons and rural surgery chairman,elecetd STAR for Arkansas/Oklahoma chapter for ASMBS,the access to care committee,the ASMBS Rural committee,the Obesity Action Coalition, IFSO,the SAGES Continuing Education committee and the American Cancer Society’s Regional Leadership Board. ****Had multiple publications;penetrating cardiac injury 2006, Medical Principles and Practice. The endoscopic component separation technique for hernia repair 2011, Hernia.Long-term follow-up of endoscopic sclerotherapy for dilated gastrojejunostomy 2013, surgical endoscopy.Endoscopic retrieval device SOARD 2015 and multiple presentations at international conferences.In addition to his professional accomplishments, he enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, swimming, and horseback riding.
