Magdy Giurgius, is a Board certified General and fellowship trained Bariatric; Minimally Invasive surgeon and Hyperbaric medicine specialist, ABOM certfied.Worked at Ozarks Health care, West Plains, MO since September of 2015 as a surgical specialist till January 2023,past chair of the education committee, previous chair of the surgery department at OZH hospital,Currently Bariatric and general surgeon at NEA Baptist hospital in Jonesboro,NE Arkansas,since January 2023 till present. Member of the ASMBS ‘’access to care committee’’;Member of the ASMBS ‘’Rural committee’’. Member of the Obesity Action Coalition; Member of IFSO.Member of the SAGES ‘’Continuing Education’’ committee.Member of the SAGES’ ‘Fundamentals of Endoscopic Surgery’’ committee. Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and DABOM.Past Member of the Executive Council of the Missouri chapter of American college of surgeons and rural surgery chairman.Past President of MO chapter of ASMBS.Currently elecetd STAR for Arkansas/Oklahoma chpater for ASMBS.Graduated from medical school and Alexandria Egypt 1995, finished general surgery residency at University of Alexandria, obtained a master degree in early detection of breast cancer 2000, then started PhD in Breast cancer and moved to Kuwait to practice as a general surgeon between 2001 and 2006. ;In 2006 moved to the United States and worked as a certified surgical assistant for one year and a half till joined University of Kentucky in Lexington 2007-2012,for a second surgery residency training at a level I trauma hospital, in 2012 started fellowship in Minimally invasive and Bariatric surgery at University of Missouri in Columbia, worked with the office of technology management and industry at University of Missouri on a device he invented in the form of endoscopic retrieval device were a patent was obtained, had locum general surgery position at Harlan Kentucky 2014-2015 till joined Ozarks Health care in September of the same year and started a rural Bariatirc surgey program.Had multiple publications (penetrating cardiac injury 2006, Medical Principles and Practice. The endoscopic component separation technique for hernia repair 2011, Hernia. Long-term follow-up of endoscopic sclerotherapy for dilated gastrojejunostomy 2013, surgical endoscopy. Endoscopic retrieval device SOARD 2015 and multiple presentations at international conferences.Special intrest in MIS and Bariatric surgery, teaching and like swimming and riding horses.
