Lisa Griffin is the Bariatric Programs Manager for Brookwood Baptist Medical Center. She grew up in Starkville, Mississippi an avid MSU Bulldog fan and received her B.S. in Education from Mississippi State University. She returned to school 2 years later to obtain her A.D. in nursing from Mississippi University for Women. She has worked for over 30 years in Newborn and Intensive Care Nursery. Lisa moved to Birmingham in 1992 and accepted the position of Nursery Clinical Coordinator for the newly opened Women’s Center at Shelby Baptist Medical Center in 1993. In 2003, she initially came to Brookwood to work with the Bariatric Program after she had undergone successful weight loss surgery. Unfortunately, the program met unforeseen challenges and Lisa then transitioned to a Case Manager’s role in Ortho/Neuro. From 2005 until 2014, Lisa worked as a marketing Liaison for inpatient rehab. She returned to Brookwood in November 2014 to revise the role of Bariatric Programs Manager. Lisa has a passion for her patients and sensitivity towards the needs of the obese having been overweight more than half her life.
