Dr. Laura Fischer is a US board-certified general surgeon specializing in minimally invasive techniques: laparoscopic, robotic, and endoscopic surgery. She is the Medical Director of the Weight & Wellness Center at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City which provides comprehensive treatment for obesity including bariatric surgery. She is the project lead for the Zambia Hub with ACS H.O.P.E. She has been involved in global surgery education efforts since 2016. She received her medical degree at Columbia University in New York, completed her surgical training at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, Wisconsin, and her specialty fellowship training at Oregon Health and Science University in Portland, Oregon.
