Dr. Larissa McGarrity is a clinical health psychologist and an Associate Professor in the Department of Physical Medicine (PM&R) at the University of Utah. She is the Chief of the PM&R Psychology Section, leading 9 psychologists across 3 subspecialty areas, and directs clinical operations for the Bariatric Psychology service line. Her research, clinical, and education focus is on psychological health among patients with severe obesity, particularly in the pre- and post-bariatric surgery context. On her current K12 award she has developed and is testing in a pilot RCT a dyadic positive psychology intervention for couples in the years after bariatric surgery called ReConnect (Reimagining Us in the Context of Bariatric Surgery).
