About the Provider

Kristin Louden is a Nurse Practitioner practicing in Obesity Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic’s Bariatric and Metabolic Institute since 2021. She received her bachelors and masters in nursing from Kent State University and previously received a bachelor's in health care administration from The Ohio State University. As a nurse, she worked in the operating room where she scrubbed and circulated general surgery, including metabolic and bariatric procedures. Since obtaining her masters in Adult-Gerontology Primary Care, she has had the privilege to collaborate under Dr. Scott Butsch in the creation of the Ohio Obesity Society. She is co-chair of the BMI’s fundraising committee where she has helped raise over $30,000 for obesity education, research, treatment, and advocacy. At the Cleveland Clinic, she is a staff preceptor in one of the nation’s first Obesity Medicine Advanced Practice Provider Fellowship Programs. She is a member of ASMBS, AANP, the Obesity Action Coalition and previously OMA. At ASMSBS, she is a member of the IH Advanced Practice Provider Committee. She has obtained the AANP certificate in Obesity Management Fundamentals and the ASMBS APP Assessment Based Certificate. Kristin is passionate about educating her colleagues and patients about the disease of obesity because she has lived with it. She seeks to empower providers to treat patients with evidence-based weight loss interventions that improve patients’ quality of life, not just the number on the scale. In her free time, Kristin enjoys playing volleyball and spending time with her husband, Scott, and daughter, Brinley. Kristin Louden’s clinical interests focus on the pharmacological management of obesity and the use of combination pharmacological therapies in bariatric surgical patients and special populations with severe obesity.
