John Scott, MD FACS DABOM DABS-FPDMBS

Dr. Scott is a Clinical Professor of Surgery at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Greenville and the metabolic and bariatric surgery director for the Prisma Health bariatric surgical program. He is the Chief of the Division of Minimal Access and Bariatric Surgery for the Prisma Health Department of Surgery and the Program Director for the Prisma Health Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS) fellowship program. He sits on the Board of Directors for the ASMBS, the ObesityPAC, and the Obesity Action Coalition. He is the representative for the ASMBS in the American Medical Association House of Delegates. He also serves on the Question Writing board for the Focus Practice Designation Committee for the American Board of Surgery and is active on the ACS MBSAQIP Standards Committee. He is an Associate Editor for Surgery for Obesity and Related Disease. He has previously served as the president of the Bariatric Society of the Carolinas, a member of the TREO Foundation Board of Directors, and chairman of the ASMBS Program and Access to Care Committees. Dr. Scott is board certified in General Surgery by the American Board of Surgery, a Diplomate from the American Board of Obesity Medicine, and a Diplomate from the American Board of Surgery with a Focused Practice Designation for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. He is active in the American College of Surgeons (ACS), SAGES, and the Southern Surgical Association. He is a rabid University of Tennessee fan.
