As a Family Nurse Practitioner, I have always loved helping patients improve their health, circumstances, and life. Working in Obesity Management allows me to do just that on a daily basis. I am blessed and humbled to be in this role and get to work with some of the most resilient people who are not only managing to SURVIVE in a world that is less than kind to them, but they are looking for ways to THRIVE. Working as a Primary Care Provider for 10 years truly honed my skills for my current role in the outpatient management of pre and postoperative bariatric surgery patients. In this role, I am part of a dynamic team that assists patients to make changes that for years they felt may not have been possible. My professional goals are to : Decrease weight bias and stigma for our patients, and Improve the education and resources available to my colleagues in health care to provide effective, evidence based treatments for managing the chronic disease of obesity. I have been married for 30+ years. The first 10 years we spent getting to know each other and exploring the world on horseback. the next 20+ we spent working and parenting our 2 amazing children. As our kids are now entering into adulthood, my husband and I are starting to explore the world on a tandem bike. I can't think of a better way for me to lean into the the discomfort of giving up control while I have my bestfriend really close by!
