Dr. Jayaraj Salimath, F.A.C.O.S, FASMBS, Bariatric, Minimally Invasive and General Surgery . Dr. Jayaraj Salimath has been in Peoria since 2007, started at Mid Illini Surgical Associates in 2007 upon completion of a Fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic in Weston, Florida. Previously worked also with Springfield clinic, Peoria and South East Iowa Regional Medical Center, Burlington Iowa as Medical Director of Bariatric surgery. Currently working with Carle, Methodist in Peoria. Perform Bariatric surgery at Carle Methodist Hospital. A Board Certified General Surgeon and Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Surgery, also only surgeon in area with Certificate of Added Qualificaiton in Metabolica and Bariatric surgery, Dr. Salimath also holds a degree in Nursing. He received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Michigan State University where he also completed his internship. His general surgery residency was completed at Ingham Regional Medical Center in Michigan. He is currently a Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria. Dr. Salimath specializes in minimally invasive General Surgery and bariatric weight loss surgery including sleeve gastrectomy, gastric bypass, revisional bariatric suregery and Lap-Band placement and removal. As a general surgeon, he has a special interest in minimally invasive surgery to assist with Gastroesopahgeal reflux, Upper and Lower Endoscopy, pH monitoring, Esophageal Motility studies and Hiatal hernia repairs, Gastric cancer, Adrenalectomies. Dr. Salimath is on the Active Medical Staff at Carle Methodist | Carle Proctor, Carle Pekin Hospital. Currently the Medical Director of Bariatric services at CarleMethodist Hospital, Peoria, IL. Also served on Access to Care Committee at ASMBS, Previously served as member at large, Treasurer and Secretary of Illinois Association of Bariatric Surgeons. Currently serving as Vice President of Illinois Association of Bariatric Surgeons.
