Dr. January Hill is a Bariatric and General Surgeon at Premier General Surgeons. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from Xavier University of Louisiana in New Orleans, Louisiana. Dr. Hill then went on to receive her Doctor of Medicine from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine. Dr. Hill completed an internship and residency in General Surgery at State University of New York at Buffalo and a fellowship in Laparoscopic and Bariatric Surgery at Inova Fairfax Hospital in Virginia. After fellowship training, she practiced bariatric surgery in a private practice setting in upstate New York from 2013 through 2018. In 2019, Dr. Hill moved to Macon, Georgia to practice bariatric surgery. While in Georgia, Dr. Hill worked with two private practices to provide life changing surgeries to diverse patient populations. Later, she relocated back home to Texas and practiced locums general surgery. Dr. Hill joined Premier General Surgeons in 2024 to practice bariatric and general surgery in the Rio Grande Valley. Dr. Hill is triple board certified in General Surgery, Obesity Medicine, and Metabolic Bariatric Surgery. She is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. Dr. Hill is also a member of the American Medical Association and the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons. Her professional interests include advanced laparoscopy, robotic surgery and bariatric surgery. Dr. Hill is a daughter, sister, friend and mother to her friendly cat named Miles. She is a native Texan who is a fan of the former Houston Oilers. Dr. Hill’s personal interests include traveling, reading, hiking and any water-based activity such as paddle boarding and scuba diving. In her spare time, she socializes with close friends, relaxes at the spa and takes care of her plant “babies”. Dr. Hill is a self-described “foodie” and enjoys trying new foods from different cultures.
