Dr. Burhop graduated from University of Wisconsin- Madison Medical School in 1986.Following a surgical residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin he has been in private practice in South Eastern Wisconsin since 1992. Dr. Burhop has been practicing advanced laparoscopic surgery for 25 years with a focus on bariatric surgery since 2000. Dr. Burhop was the medical director for the Bariatric Institute of Wisconsin for 10 years. The Bariatric Institute has had center of excellence designation since 2005. He also serves as a surgeon in the US Army Reserve and has served in Afghanistan and Germany.
