JJ holds a Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology and a Master’s in Exercise Science with a focus on Performance Enhancement. He is a Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist, Cancer Exercise Trainer, Certified Personal Trainer, and an Exercise is Medicine® Professional through the American College of Sports Medicine. For over a decade, JJ has specialized in bariatrics and obesity medicine, where he’s dedicated to making exercise science fun, relatable, and engaging for patients—helping them break through the stigmas and barriers often associated with physical activity. JJ spent the majority of his career at the Houston Methodist Center for Weight Loss and Bariatric Surgery, where he developed innovative exercise curriculums and patient-centered classes that supported individuals throughout their weight loss journey. Now serving in administration at Gunnison Valley Health in Colorado, JJ may no longer be practicing clinically, but he remains a committed athlete, active contributor, and educator within the exercise science community.
