About the Provider

Ivanesa Pardo, MD, FACS, FASMBS is a board-certified general and bariatric surgeon at MedStar Washington Hospital Center, in Washington, DC. Dr. Pardo was born in Barquisimeto, Venezuela, where she later earned her medical degree at the Universidad Centroccidental Lisandro Alvarado. She then went on to complete a general surgery residency at the Indiana University School of Medicine, before completing her fellowship training in minimally invasive and bariatric surgery at Albany Medical Center.

As a fellowship-trained bariatric surgeon, Dr. Pardo specializes in the surgical treatment of obesity through the use of minimally invasive techniques, such as laparoscopy and robotic surgery. She also sees patients for gallbladder disease, reflux disease and other gastrointestinal conditions, hernias, and solid organ surgery.

She is an active member of multiple professional societies, including the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) and the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES). Dr. Pardo is a fellow of both the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (FASMBS), as well as a fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS).
