Dr. Matei is a board certified general surgeon that completed his surgical training at New York Presbyterian Hospital Queens. Prior to that he completed a 5 year surgical residency in France, Universite de Picardie. He then completed a fellowship in MIS/ bariatric surgery at Cleveland Clinic Florida. After completing his fellowship he practiced in South Florida where he has lived for the last 20 years. His practice emphasizes bariatric surgery, offering a variety of weight loss surgical procedures including Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy, Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass, Duodenal Switch, as well as revisional operations for further weight loss or complications. He practices also as a general surgeon offering complex robotic and laparoscopic general surgical procedures including foregut and antireflux surgery, biliary tract disease, simple and complex hernia operations, colon surgery as well as others. He performes all of the procedures through minimally invasive techniques utilizing the most advanced robotic and laparoscopic approaches.
