Dr. Elizabeth “Betsy” Dovec is a trailblazing bariatric surgeon, bariatrician, and entrepreneur redefining access to obesity care. As Founder and CEO of BodyByBariatrics, BodyBySkin Med Spa, and The Surgical Institute of Central Florida, she has created a first-of-its-kind, 15,000-square-foot ASC and wellness center featuring bariatric surgery, medical weight loss, cosmetic surgery, aesthetics, and GI services—all in a state-of-the-art, patient-centered environment. After nearly a decade as a hospital-employed surgeon, Dr. Dovec made a bold move in 2022—breaking away from the traditional healthcare system to build a value-based model that delivers exceptional quality at lower costs. With a focus on efficiency, innovation, and long-term success, her practice integrates minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery in an ASC setting with a comprehensive medical weight loss program, offering individualized treatment plans, nutrition guidance, and mindset support. Beyond her practice, Dr. Dovec is a sought-after keynote speaker, educator, and thought leader, leading the charge in modernizing bariatric care through virtual patient engagement and preoperative education as co-founder of NewTri Health. She is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, as well as a Diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine. A Penn State alum, she earned her medical degree from Marshall University and completed her surgical training at the West Penn Allegheny Health Network and Vanderbilt University.
