Dr. Tichansky is a board-certified surgeon who is fellowship-trained in Minimally Invasive and Bariatric surgery. He graduated from New Jersey Medical School with Honors. He went on to complete his General Surgery Residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia and then the Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery Fellowship at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond. Following training, Dr. Tichansky has held positions in both private practice and academic institutions. He is currently the Chair of Surgery at Olive View UCLA Medical Center as well as Clinical Professor and Vice Chair, Department of Surgery, David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. His previous roles include Professor and Chair of Surgery at Drexel University College of Medicine, as well as Professor and Division Director of Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery at Jefferson. Throughout his career, he has performed greater than 2000 bariatric procedures and extensive research in the fields of Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery focused on improving patient safety, outcomes, and care and has authored/co-authored 90 peer-reviewed articles, twelve book chapters, and greater than 160 scientific presentations.
