Daniel B. Jones, MD, MS, FACS is the Benjamin Rush Professor and Chair of Surgery and Assistant Dean for Simulation, Innovation and Scholarship at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School and Chief of Service for University Hospital in Newark, NJ. He graduated from Cornell University and Weil Cornell Medical School. He completed General Surgery and MIS training at Washington University. Prior to joining Rutgers, Dr Jones was Professor of Surgery at Harvard Medical School and Vice Chair of the Department of Surgery at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. Dr Jones is Past President of the Society of American Gastrointestinal & Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES), Past President of the Association for Surgical Education (ASE) and Vice President of the Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract (SSAT). Dr Jones was awarded the ASMBS Foundation Quality and Patient Safety Award and the Mason Distinguished Service Award. Dr Jones is the 2026 Honorary Member of AMCE and SBAS.
