Dr. Pham graduated from University of Medicine Paris VI Pierre et Marie Curie. His initial interest was in Neurological Surgery and he did his initial training in Paris for 2 years prior to switching to General Surgery, completing his residency training at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts. He then joined the Military (United States Air Force) and travel the World (Japan, Korea, Germany, Turkey) practicing General and Trauma Surgery as well as introducing the then budding Minimally Invasive Surgery to all the remote locations while maintaining his skills with constant contact with stateside SAGES (which he joined in 1989). In 2002, he transitioned to the US Air Force Reserve after accepting a general surgical position in the private sector. In 2009 Dr. Pham relocated to Buffalo and joined Synergy Bariatrics under the mentorship of Dr. Joseph Caruana. He brought his Laparoscopic skillset to complement the Bariatrics services and quickly embrace the field with a patient centric focus providing compassionate care and superior minimally invasive surgery technical skills. He was the first in Buffalo and Western New York to introduce Single Incision Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric Band Placement, Single Incision Laparoscopic Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy, Laparoscopic Revisional Procedures, Laparoscopic BilioPancreatic Diversion with Duodenal Switch and Robotically Assisted Bariatric Surgeries (Including R-Y Gastric Bypass and Biliopancreatic Diversion with Duodenal Switch). In 2012 He founded Buffalo Minimally Invasive Weight Loss Surgical Solutions (BMI-WLSS) and quickly attract a large number of followers due to his staff and his compassionate and personalized care ( often referred to as "Phamily"). His dedicated involvement with patients follow up and outcomes, and his very active and well attended support groups has earned his practice multiple Awards and even an article in the Obesity Action Coalition's "Your Weight Matters" magazine. His passion involves teaching, medical students, residents, allied healthcare students and conducting local meetings involving bariatric professional as well as the NY State Chapter of ASMBS.
