Christopher You, MD FACS FASMBS

Dr. Christopher You is the Director of the MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center Robotic Surgery Program and Medical Director of the MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery Program in Baltimore, MD. He holds a faculty appointment as Assistant Professor of Surgery at Georgetown University. He is board certified by the American Board of Surgery. He has extensive experience in a range of bariatric surgery procedures including sleeve gastrectomy, gastric bypass, duodenal switch, single anastomosis duodenal switch with sleeve gastrectomy, and revision surgery. All bariatric surgery procedures he performs are with the robotic surgery platform ensuring less blood loss, less pain, fewer complications, and sooner recovery to work. He also performs bariatric endoscopic procedures both before and after bariatric surgery. As Medical Director of the Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery program at MedStar Franklin Square, he helped establish the program as a Center of Excellence under the BOLD program in 2012 and directed subsequent certification and recertifications as a Comprehensive Center in the MBSAQIP program in 2015, 2018, and 2022. Since 2011, Dr. You has been a surgeon proctor for companies such as Intuitive Surgical and Standard Bariatric helping to teach innovative surgical techniques to other surgeons. He has spoken at national surgical meetings and conducts clinical research to improve clinical outcomes for his patients. Dr. You also performs foregut and hernia procedures including anti-reflux operations, paraesophageal hernia repairs, and advanced abdominal wall hernia repairs. Dr. You has been named a Top Doc for Baltimore Magazine for bariatric surgery in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016.
