Dr. Cem Emir Guldogan graduated from "Ankara University Faculty of Medicine" in 2008 and completed his general surgery residency at "Ankara Numune Training and Research Hospital" in 2014. Between 2014-2016, he worked as a General Surgery Specialist in the Colorectal Surgery Department of the same hospital. In 2015 and 2016, he participated in Robotic Colorectal Surgery training at "Stony Brook University, New York-USA." He started as a Consultant at "Liv Hospital Ankara-Turkey" in 2016 and lectured as an Assistant Professor at "Istanbul Altinbas University Faculty of Medicine," Department of General Surgery, between 2017-2018, and at "Istanbul Istinye University Faculty of Medicine," between 2018-2020. He became an Associate Professor of General Surgery in 2020. Until 2022 he worked at Liv Hospital Ankara and in 2022, moved to Doha, Qatar, and worked at Turkish Hospital until 2024. His primary interests include Robotic Surgery, Obesity and Metabolic Surgery, Advanced Laparoscopic procedures, and Malignant and Benign Diseases of the Colon and Rectum. He is a member of the "American Society for Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery" (ASMBS), the "International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders" (IFSO), the "European Association of Endoscopic Surgery" (EAES), the "Endoscopic Laparoscopic Surgeons of Asia and Pacific" (ELSA), the "American College of Surgeons" (ACS), and the "Turkish Surgical Society." Among his studies, the work titled "Changes in HOMA-IR Index After Bariatric Surgery: Comparison of SADS-p and MGB-OAGB" earned the "Best International Poster Award" at the 36th ASMBS Congress. He has authored four internationally published textbook chapters and contributed to translating 14 chapters of five textbooks from English to Turkish. Dr. Guldogan is on the Editorial Board of the "Turkish Journal of Trauma and Emergency Surgery" and serves as Editor-in-Chief assistant, observer, and reviewer in the "Turkish Journal of Surgery." He continues as a reviewer for the "SDU Medical Faculty Journal," "Eskisehir Medical Journal," "The European Research Journal," and the "Ankara Training and Research Hospital Medical Journal." He was awarded the "Fellow of the European Board of Surgery" (FEBS) in 2019, the "International Fellow of the American Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery" (IFASMBS) in 2023, and the "Fellow of the American College of Surgeons" (FACS) in 2024. As of August 2024, his H-index is 16, his I10-index is 26, and his research has been cited 1550 times. He also holds the position of Chief Medical Officer and Medical Director at Pearl International Hospital.
