COL (retired) Byron Faler currently serves as the Chief of Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery at Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center in Augusta, GA where he previously served as the Chief of General Surgery and the Program Director of the general surgery residency. He attended medical school at Wake Forest University School of Medicine and completed residency training in surgery at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. His clinical and research interests are in bariatric surgery, surgical simulation, hernia surgery, telehealth, and medical education. He holds an academic appointment as Associate Professor from Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS).
