Alvaro Galvez, MD, has firsthand experience in the negative health impacts of obesity. That personal experience, combined with a passion for medicine, surgery and technology have guided his career path. “After witnessing the amazing results and quick recovery after minimally invasive surgery, I found my future in the profession” he says. “I could not be happier and more excited with my choice of specialty.” Dr. Galvez earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the Universidad Mayor de San Andres in La Paz, Bolivia. He completed his general surgery residency at Drexel University College of in Philadelphia, PA, and his fellowship in Bariatric and Minimally Invasive Surgery at Saint Luke’s University Health Network in Allentown, PA. At AtlantiCare Physician Group, Surgical Associates Dr. Galvez specializes in bariatric and foregut surgery. Using minimally invasive techniques, his goal is to provide care designed to minimize the impact of surgery and ensure the quickest postoperative recovery times. Dr. Galvez is also fluent in Spanish.
