About the Provider

As part of the Richmond Kaiser Permanente Department of Surgery, I feel fortunate to work amongst a professional team of talented surgeons, physicians, nurses, and staff to provide the best care for our patients. I believe in working along with patients and their families in the decision-making process. I am eager to work with you to make your experience at Kaiser Permanente a positive one.rnrnI was born in a Kaiser hospital. After training, I decided I wanted to work in a Kaiser Medical Center.rnrnI completed my surgical residency in Worcester, Massachusetts and the Harvard Critical Care Research Fellowship in Boston. I moved to California for training in open and advanced laparoscopic and bariatric surgery.rnrnI am certified in the specialty of General Surgery by the American Board of Surgeons. I am a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity, and a member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons.rnrnI am the medical officer for the surgical mission group Traditional Healing Ways. We have completed regular missions to the Philippines to offer surgical treatment and medical education. These are a source of great pride as we are able to provide care for those who could not afford treatment for their breast cancer, gallstones or hernias. rnrnMy wife is a breast cancer survivor and I strongly recommend that my patients stay current on their preventive services. rnrnMy outside interests include walking my dog, hiking, camping, scuba diving and gardening.rn
