Behavioral health assessment and support are important components of the bariatric surgery treatment process. Some patients may not have previous experience with behavioral health providers or treatment, may wonder why a behavioral health provider is involved in their bariatric care, or have anxieties or concerns about working with a behavioral health provider. In this part of the Patient Education section, you will find resource lists and examples of educational information to help provide education to your patients about the purpose and value of working with behavioral health providers. In addition, you will find examples of handouts and worksheets that provide education and tips about behavioral health topics related to bariatric surgery. The needs of each clinic will be different, and these resources are provided as a guide only.
