We are seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our multidisciplinary team in the Institute for Bariatric and Minimally Invasive Surgery – an active clinical program that has performed more than 600 bariatric surgery procedures in 2011. You will perform examinations, evaluations, assessments and interpretation of clinical data for patients requiring bariatric surgical intervention. You will also support continuity of patient treatment, patient flow and protocols within the Bariatric Surgery Program – an American College of Surgeons-designated “Center of Excellence.”
Job Requirements:
•Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program
•Master’s Degree in Nursing
•At least two years of nursing experience in surgery, neurosurgery, and/or surgical critical care
•New York State RN and NP certificates, as well as DEA certificate
•Work Monday to Friday (9AM to 5PM)

In this position, you will direct the daily clinical operations of our Bariatric Program to ensure the continuous maintenance of optimal patient flow and the cost-effective delivery of high-quality care. Additional responsibilities include coordinating new patient seminars, support group sessions and preoperative classes; conducting continuing education sessions for staff; assisting bariatric team members with research efforts; and managing program accreditation activities.
To qualify, you must have a bachelor’s degree in an applicable field; NP, PA, RN or RD licensure; and previous experience managing a similar program, division or department. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications is also required.

We currently have an opening for a Bariatric Coordinator in our Center for Weight and Life Management. Specializing in weight loss surgery and long-term patient management, the Center helps our patients take control of their obesity and regain their health. Established since 2001, our highly trained team of surgeons, nurses, nutritionists, exercise therapists and psychologists, provide our patients with a multi-disciplinary program that treats the whole body before, during and after surgery.
Responsibilities:
Coordinates care for bariatric surgery patients and management of ongoing Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence (BSCOE) compliance. This includes bariatric program development, patient and staff education, as well as oversight of multidisciplinary teams and acting as the liaison between the hospital and surgical practice. Coordinates and facilitates monthly community lectures and support group meetings. Conducts pre-operative patient education classes.
Qualifications:
• Current NYS RN, Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant License
• Clinical experience in Bariatrics (surgical weight loss program) with knowledge of Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence Standards preferred
• Program Development experience with the ability to lead and direct interdisciplinary work group
• Demonstrated ability to make administrative and clinical decisions related to the assessments, treatments, and/or age-specific care of patients
• Previous marketing experience
• Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to compile statistics, including attention to detail
• Working knowledge of insurance verification procedures
• Must be able to regularly travel between the hospital and physician practice site
• Must be able to travel to various venues and exhibit flexibility, adapting readily to changes in the work environment or work schedule.
