Manager Bariatric Department – Kingwood, WV

POSITION SUMMARY:

Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates patient care in compliance with Preston Memorial Hospital policies and procedures. Serves as Bariatric Coordinator and assists with management and operation of Heartburn Center. Coordinates hospital activities to facilitate provision of patient care services to bariatric and general surgery patients. Assesses and manages the operations of the department. Develops and controls the financial plan for the department. Demonstrates leadership qualities through staff management and problem resolution.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or other Health Related Field is required.
2.Master’s Degree in Nursing or other Health Related Field is preferred.
3.Current West Virginia State Nursing or other Health Professional Licensure, if applicable.
4.A minimum of three (3) years of clinical experience in acute care and/or critical care is required.
5.One to three years of Management experience is preferred.
6.Two years bariatric experience is preferred.
7.Previous experience formulating and monitoring budgets is preferred.
8.BLS Certification is required.
9.ACLS Certification is preferred.
10.Specialty certification, Bariatrics is preferred.
11.Ability to consistently demonstrate leadership qualities in the workplace through staff management and problem resolution is required.
12.Ability to handle multiple patient care issues and/or personnel issues simultaneously is required.
13.Ability to prioritize activities and manage time productively is required.
14.Ability to work as a healthcare team member is required.
15.Ability to present a pleasant, helpful, courteous personality to patients and staff is required.
16.Ability to process, verify, and maintain documentation is required.
17.Ability to compile and prepare reports and documents is required.
18.Ability to understand and spell medical terminology is preferred.

STATUS:Full-time (1.0 FTE)

SCHEDULE:Monday – Friday routinely, 8:00A – 4:30P

Bariatric Program Coordinator – Norwalk, CT

The primary function of the Bariatric Coordinator is to serve as the day-to-day lead for the Bariatric Program and to supervise the ongoing development, implementation and organization of the overall program.

Under the direction of the Administrative Manager, the Bariatric Coordinator:

• Coordinates the efforts between surgeons, Hospital administration and staff while tracking the progress of the program and identifying areas that require attention
• Assumes responsibility for:
o program management,
o report generation and review,
o process improvement,
o patient satisfaction,
o facilities review, and
o budget and administrative activities within the Program
• Acts as liaison between the Hospital, patients and doctors offices, including:
o coordinating in-services, seminars, support groups and team meetings,
o facilitating flow of patients through the system,
o data management, and
o ensuring continuous readiness for Surgical Review Corporation surveys for Center of Excellence designation

Qualifications:
• Minimum ASN or equivalent and/or MPAS or equivalent
• Licensed RN, PA or APN
• Minimum one (1) year experience in bariatrics strongly preferred

Other Requirements:
• Must be able to communicate with patients, family and staff in a professional manner
• Proven ability to interact with and establish strong working relationships with Program surgeons
• Prior experience with patient / staff education
• Proven leadership experience, having managed resources either directly or within the implementation of a new initiative
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask

Required Qualifications:
Masters in Business Administration or Health Administration
Excellent candidates may be considered who have a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field plus 10 years experience in leading/managing in a health care setting
Must be strong in basic accounting, revenues, financing, billing, cash flow and receivables management. This knowledge base is a necessity.

Preferred Qualifications:
Masters in Business Administration or Health Administration and four or more years of progressively responsible management experience in a multi-physician medical practice or hospital is desirable.

Responsibilities:
Monitors the activities of all clinical operating components to ensure the practice successfully meets its objectives. Advises and seeks consent from physicians to coordinate and manage the activities of the clinic.
Works with physicians and clinic accountant to set fee schedules and to prepare a budget for the clinic with the overall goal of maintaining quality and increasing profitability. During the year, compares actual to projected budget performance to ensure adherence to the budget.
Ensures professional licensure and hospital privileges are current and maintained, including monitoring of continuing education requirements.
Manages month-end processes and prepares income statements and balance sheets on the books maintained by the clinic. May prepare other financial and statistical reports for review by the physicians, either on a scheduled basis or as requested. Works with the clinic accounting firm and legal counsel as necessary.
Reviews the entire accounting system to ensure it is operating within the limits of well-defined internal control standards.
Ensures integrity and HIPPA compliance of patient files.
Interviews, hires, supervises, and terminates all clinic personnel; coordinates all staff activities. Creates and administers an on-the-job training program for new and current employees.
Standardizes procedures and initiates changes when necessary and constantly reviews procedures to determine more efficient and less costly ways to conduct the business without sacrificing patient care.
Orders or reviews and approves orders for supplies, equipment, narcotics, etc., from the various operating sections for the clinic.
Prepares and issues all aspects of the clinic payrolls as well as accounts payable.
Monitors outstanding accounts receivable. Works with Billing & Collection Supervisor to ensure constant attention is paid to the balances outstanding, and steps are being taken to reduce the receivables.
Develop and/or implement new electronic medical records system.
Performs other duties as required.
