New Resources for State Chapters!

Because the treatment for obesity has become a local access to care fight, the ASMBS State & Local Chapters Committee is more dedicated than ever to inspire chapter organization in every US state, and to ensure that current chapters are operating proficiently.  Therefore, the Committee continues to cultivate new resources to facilitate chapter development and enrichment.   Below are the two newest chapter resources available.

New Chapter Resources:

Bylaws of Existing Chapters available online:
In an effort to assist new chapters during the organizing process, several ASMBS chapters have offered their bylaws as a reference.  They have been posted on the website, and can be found here: http://asmbs.org/state-chapters/
State Chapters Presidents Symposium/Seminar!
This inaugural leadership meeting held February 2013 provided an important forum for current chapter presidents to come together and share “best practices” in running an effective state chapter.  The meeting was such a success, the State & Local Chapters Committee has decided to make it an annual event!  Chapter Presidents will receive detailed information during the planning phase each year.

Through these resources, the Committee hopes to grow and strengthen state chapters, which ultimately provide bariatric professionals with a centralized means through which to advocate on behalf of their patients and programs.

If your state does not currently have a chapter and you would like to help organize one, contact Nooriel Nolan at nooriel@asmbs.org, or 352.331.4900 (for help getting the process started or to arrange for the symposium to come to your state.)

Join us in strengthening state chapters.  We need each and every one of you in this ongoing fight for access to bariatric care!
